PATTI SMITH: DREAM OF LIFE

Director: Steven Sebring
Year: 2008
Duration: 109 min
Country: USA

This is an intimate portrait of the poet, painter, musician and singer Patti Smith; a film that mirrors the essence of the artist herself. Best known for being an integral part of the birth of the American punk rock explosion in the mid-70’s, and with her defining album 'Horses', she integrated an earlier beat poet style with three-chord rock, collaborating with her photographer husband Robert Mapplethorpe to create the iconic portrait that adorned the album's cover.

DREAM OF LIFE gives us a snapshot of Smith now, as she reaches her sixth decade; she looks back on a life of both heartbreak and joyfulness, of activism and rebellion, and prepares for another tour with Jackson, her son with the late Fred Sonic Smith from 60's noiseniks The MC5

WHY YOU MUST SEE THIS FILM: Smith is an icon for many generations, to male punk rockers and female activists alike, and here’s a chance to see the definitive portrait of this legend.
