Described as a tragi-comedy from the margins of contemporary rural Irish life, this award winning Irish film stars comedian Pat Shortt in a powerful dramatic role.
Shortt plays Josie, a harmless misfit, eliciting idle kindness, benign tolerance and occasional abuse - a “village idiot” if you will - who has spent all his adult life as the caretaker of a crumbling petrol station on the outskirts of a small town in the mid-west of Ireland.
Over the course of one summer, Josie's world shifts as he befriends David, a teenager who comes to work with him. This quiet meditative film elicits a powerful denouement, as Josie’s life spirals out of control.
WHY YOU MUST SEE THIS FILM: For FATHER TED regular Pat Shortt’s stunning dramatic role that will have you laughing and weeping, and to experience new Irish cinema at it’s best.
