May the Norse be with you! A new British rom-com set in the world of battle re-enactments, as Richard, a lovable nerd with a passion for Viking battles, has to shape up in order to win back his wife Cath. Starring Britain's most brilliant and ubiquitous supporting actor and Mike Leigh regular, Eddie Marsan (VERA DRAKE, HAPPY-GO-LUCKY), here taking centre stage as Richard, opposite Jessica Hynes (formerly Stephenson, the co- creator and star of TV legend SPACED) as his long suffering wife Cath. With a supporting cast including Ewen Bremner and Paul Nicholls, the film was largely developed by users of Myspace as part of an online competition. This dry but endearing comedy hints at SHAUN OF THE DEAD, SON OF RAMBOW, Monty Python, and a tradition of British TV sitcom and rom-com, and is a total pleasure for geeks and lesser mortals alike.
Held in the fittingly picturesque surrounds of Mont Orgueil, this screening is an opportunity to see the film in a unique setting as the curtain comes down on Branchage festival, in what promises to be a spectacular fashion.
WHY DID BRANCHAGE CHOOSE THIS FILM TO CLOSE THE FESTIVAL? A marriage made in heaven to bring the spectacular headland setting of Mont Orgueil to a film featuring Vikings! But also a chance to see the great traditions of British comedy carried on with aplomb and with its head held high!
